One of the most common questions I receive from people who are excited about developing their Intuitive intelligence is, “How do I know if the information I am getting that is telling me to stop or wait, is in fact from my intuition, or if it is my fear or past programming talking to me?”
This is a really important question, and one that is crucial to get clear about now, before you may need to have clarity about a real life situation somewhere down the road.
Intuition is the voice of our Soul as it speaks to us through our Higher Mind. It has very specific and precise identifying attributes that once we are familiar with, make it very easy to identify.
There are several important distinctions to make about the different ways in which intuition communicates and fear communicates. These distinctions fall into the ‘Precision’ category of the Intuition Triad – which guides us to become precise about our own recognition of our energetic landscape and how emotions like fear feel to us.
#1. Intuition is emotionally NEUTRAL.
The first understanding that must be made clear is that Intuition is NOT based in emotion. This is one of the most common and deeply toxic misconceptions about Intuition. Because our Intuition is sourced from our Higher Mind, which exists beyond time and space and beyond the egoic limitations of ‘right and wrong’ – it carries no emotional charge. Where we get confused is when we have an emotional response to the intuitive hit and believe it is coming from our Intuition.
#2. Intuitive impressions like STOP, GO or WAIT will have clear and recognizable feelings or sensations, but there will be no emotion behind them, either good or bad, positive or negative.
- An intuitive direction that is guiding you to GO – should feel open, clear, solid and calm. There may be an impulse in your body to lean forward or lean into your action. When you contemplate your decision to act it should not feel like a big deal, with no bells and whistles, but rather it will feel like the next appropriate action to take.
- An intuitive direction that is guiding you to WAIT – might feel like a slight field of pressure is preventing you from moving easily forward. Timing is very important to intuitive success, so when you are being instructed to wait, it might feel like an energetic arm is gently laying across you holding you back. While the impulse isn’t so strong to convince you to stop, you recognize something doesn’t feel right about taking action at this time.
- An intuitive direction that is guiding you to STOP might feel like a complete energetic blockage and a limitation of forward momentum. When you try to push or force the issue, the energy you notice in your body feels pressurized and distorted. You become aware of this ‘off feeling’ every time you try to ignore the stop signal and you find you are using alot of energy and getting nowhere.
Notice in all of these descriptions there was no mention of any sort of emotion – it is all based in feeling/sensing/noticing … NOT emotion. Learning how to recognize how your intuition communicates in these situations will benefit you greatly in achieving intuitive success.
Now FEAR is a whole different story. Fear is an element of the Lower Mind which is hyper vigilant about maintaining the status quo; it judges the past and worries about the future. But what is so wonderful about FEAR is that it carries a very powerful identifying marker that makes it very easy for us to tell it apart from our Intuitive intelligence.
That marker IS EMOTION. Fear feels like CRAP. Fear feels awful. Fear hurts. And it says all sorts of nasty things to us.
Take a moment or two to reflect on those times when you have felt fearful and specifically identify how it takes energetic shape in your body. It has very clear fingerprints, that are often painfully obvious.
Those painful sensations serve a powerful purpose … they let us know that in any moment when we are feeling the sensation of fear, we are having a thought or entertaining a belief that is NOT in alignment with what our Intuition knows to be true. That crappy feeling is the signal meant to get our attention and to let us know that in that moment, our Lower Mind is feeding us a load of baloney that is intended to keep our old limited patterns intact. When we can make friends with our fear and learn to use it to start to break apart those limited belief patterns, eventually it begins to lose it’s power.
I invite you to take a few minutes and check out the video above. It will give you some very clear and precise ways to tell the difference between FEAR and Intuitive guidance and how you can begin to make friends with your Fear and empower your Intuition in the process.
Have you had moments when you could clearly recognize the difference between your Intuition and your fear? What was the situation? What was the outcome? I would love to hear your stories. Feel free to comment and share below.
Until next time …
Live your dreams.
As the world continues to move forward in the days after learning that one of its most beloved performers made his transition at his own hand; the collective ripple effect begins to spread and the energetic ramifications begin to take shape.
In the days since the announcement of Robin Williams’ passing, just as many others around the globe, I have found myself feeling washed over with a sense of shock, bewilderment, deep sadness and grief, as though I had lost a dear and intimate friend. I am stopped at random moments throughout the day by spontaneous tears, weeping for a person I did not know. I know I am not alone in this sentiment, as people from all walks of life deal with the emotions brought up by this deeply felt and powerful heart squeeze.
The global response to Robin’s death is mixed – and varies from sadness, shock and bewilderment to deep understanding, empathy and connection and even anger, blame and outright vitriol.
But the lesson of his life and his death, go far beyond the message of suicide and depression. For someone in Robin’s position – that is, to have a place on a global stage, is meant to serve everyone that he touched – not only those who might share the medical and material aspects of his ‘mental condition.’
Our Soul uses our life – ALL of our life, and our death IS a part of our life, to bring light, service and healing to those we might connect with. Whether in person, on stage or through film, our service, does not have to be reflected in the things we DO for one another, but the lessons we can bring to those who are open and ready to receive them and who are vulnerable enough to be touched by them.
Robin’s job as a Lightworker was clearly reflected in the things he did with his life – his ability to make us laugh with his sometimes supernatural brilliance and to touch our hearts with his deeply powerful portrayals of people who were often broken, reflected our own inner joy and our own deeply hidden wounds – making him a healer of great power.
But his service as a Lightworker did not end the moment he died, in fact, when viewed from a Soul perspective, the impact of his departure only turned the light up on his purpose and ability to serve.
Perhaps you; like me and millions of others around the world, are finding yourself feeling certain things and experiencing certain emotions that you are surprised by – given your personal distance from the person and situation, causing them. The emotions stirred up by Robin’s transition, regardless of what they are, are meant to be brought into the light – so they can be healed.
Robin clearly had many emotions that were buried deep in the shadows; he did his best to overpower them with his passion and humor. Perhaps in his later years, his desire to excavate them, became too exhausting and despite how greatly he was loved and admired – he was simply too tired to continue digging.
But this does not have to be a tragedy. We can use this part of Robin’s life, this part of his service, to shed light on our own shadows, so they can be excavated, and healed.
When the sadness came up in me and the tears began to flow – I realized that Robin was only the trigger that brought to the surface my own deeper sadness – from a lifetime of wounds and betrayals that I had not had the courage to feel in the past. The tears were not entirely for Robin, most of them, were for me.
I invite you to take a moment to reflect on how you are feeling about Robin’s transition and get real about the emotions that are being brought to the surface. It may be sadness, anger, shame, hate, hopelessness, disappointment, ambivalence or fear … it doesn’t matter what they are. If you are feeling something, Robin is still doing his job in bringing things into the light to serve you.
Let those emotions surface, feel them, face them; allow them to come into the light where the power of your awareness and observation can transmute them. If you have people you can talk to about these feelings, share with them. If you feel compelled to write, to draw to sing, to shout, to run, to weep; to hug your dog, to fall to your knees and pray – then do so.
Allow the energy that has been stored deep in the shadows … allow it to move. Do not deny it, do not hide from it, do not fear it – despite its darkness; it is a part of you – and when brought into the light – it can be used to serve instead of strangle you.
I believe that there is Life and then there is more Life. Robin has simply unzipped his physical suit and done it in such a way that it touches us, opens us and moves us to use his transition to live more Life. To live greater Life. To live a happier Life. To live a more joyful Life. His service continues.
Thank you Robin – may your Light continue to shine!

Business Intuition: What do Richard Branson, Oprah Winfrey and Warren Buffet know that most of us don’t? But should.
By Simone Wright
Intuition is the new buzz-word in business and everyone from Branson to Buffet are touting its ability to guide and direct them to greater success and higher profits. But the understanding of what Intuition really is and how it can serve us in business and in life is deeply flawed. But it is more important to understand now, than ever before.
The speed at which business transforms and the amount of information we process as entrepreneurs, business people and leaders are unmatched in history. In a recent UCLA study, it was revealed that we process over 174 newspapers worth of information daily. This is 5 times more data than we were receiving 20 years ago and it effects how we do business on every level.
The ability to be creative, think on the fly and make key business decisions with little time amidst the tsunami of external information is vital. Intuition is the natural intelligence that allows us to see ahead of the curve, to generate innovative ideas, to communicate powerfully and to do so without having to study spreadsheets or gather piles of data. It is the skill we all possess that has the ability to guide us to greater business success, greater career satisfaction and more sustainable levels of innovation and service.
What it IS.
Intuition is the ability to use the power of the expanded creative mind to discover new and innovative approaches to doing things. It allows us to focus the power of visionary ideas and bring them to fruition in a balanced and efficient way. And it empowers us to be able to make effective decisions quickly and communicate our goals clearly and compassionately with customers, employees and suppliers.
What it ISN’T.
#1. It is not a supernatural or paranormal mind trick. It is an intelligence housed in every cell of our biology. Every person on the planet possesses it and has the ability to use it in business and in life.
#2. It is not based in emotion. Our Intuition is sourced on a level of awareness that is beyond emotion. Its intelligence comes to us in neutral and non-emotional ways. Where we stumble is when we have a charged response to the intuitive information. The emotion comes from our reaction to the guidance, not from the guidance itself.
How can business leaders start using their Intuition right away?
#1. Accept the fact that you’ve got it and that isn’t some New Agey, mind game, but rather a very sophisticated intelligence that has the ability to guide you to your highest good and best outcome, in whatever area of life you want it to.
#2. Take some time, no matter how busy you think you are, to unplug. Step away from your technology, turn off your communication devices and get some time out of the office and doing something that you enjoy that has nothing to do with work. Edison, Einstein and Jobs all got their most revolutionary ideas when they were sailing, gardening or meditating. NOT while they were grinding it out in the office.
#3. Start paying attention to and taking action on, those little hunches. Honor those subtle whispers of a new idea. Take action on the seemingly absurd new approaches that pop into your awareness out of nowhere and realize that these nudges of innovation are your Intuition working at its best. It’s up to you to follow them.
The 7 Attributes of Intuitive Business Leaders
#1. They take action based on Vision.
Intuitive leaders are not motivated by external goals; they are inspired by inner Vision. This subtle yet powerful shift of personal meaning and value, cultivates an expanded awareness that enables them to see and apply solutions where others cannot and allows them to meet the mission statement of their business in unique and often groundbreaking ways.
#2. They set the trends – they don’t follow them.
Intuitive leaders are bored by doing the same thing that everyone else is doing and they receive great satisfaction by creating approaches, products and industries that are original and transformative. Empowered by being ‘tastemakers’, following the pack is simply not a part of their DNA.
#3. They are able to let go of things that are no longer working or viable.
Intuitive leaders do not spend a lot of time focused on things that don’t move the vision forward. They are able to elegantly move through difficult choices, perceived failures and situations that require them to jettison unnecessary protocol. They easily grasp the important lessons, which empower them to cultivate new plans of action and move forward with greater certainty and focus.
#4. They allow others on their team to thrive, excel and contribute.
Intuitive leaders are powerfully aware that they are only a part of the whole. As people who feel and sense things deeply, they know how to support and encourage members of their team by creating trust and connection, thus generating a safe yet energized environment that brings out the innovative best in everyone.
#5. They thrive when others tell them ‘it can’t be done.’
Intuitive leaders consider themselves to be mavericks, rebels and revolutionaries. Most would admit that they do not like to be told what to do, or how to do it. They shine when there is a problem to be solved, a need to be filled or a gap to be closed that others have given up on, or haven’t been able to resolve. They excel even more when creating something that no one has even considered before and many would think impossible.
#6. They ask evolved questions.
Intuitive leaders know that empowered questions lead to empowered answers. Questions such as ‘How can we be different?’ ‘How can we be a better example of sustainable enterprise?’ ‘How can we serve people in a more enlightened way?’ will generate more beneficial results than questions like, ‘How can we do less and make more?’ ‘How can we improve our bottom line?’ or ‘How can we squash the competition?
#7. They are able to cultivate solutions and courses of action in multiple directions.
Intuitive leaders do not take action based on linear thinking. That is A leads to B, leads to C. Their expanded vision allows them to design and successfully implement action plans that move in multiple directions at the same time empowering innovation and influence far more quickly than their logical counterparts.
They are able to combine experience and improvisation to cultivate an expansive middle ground of vigorous creativity that leaves old paradigms crumbling in the dust.
We’ve ALL Got It
Everyone has the natural ability to use their Intuition to serve them in powerful ways, in life and in business. It is not a supernatural skill gifted to some but not to others. When we accept this simple yet powerful understanding, we allow our Intuitive intelligence to become active and to guide and direct us to outcomes that serve our personal and professional ‘highest good’.
By adopting some of the traits of Intuitive business leaders, you too can elevate and evolve your practices to greater levels of success, satisfaction and service.

Do you remember those times when you were younger, when the grown ups in your life told you not to get too full of yourself, because … ‘YOU aren’t the CENTER of the UNIVERSE you know’!!
Well the truth of the matter is, at least energetically speaking … those old folks were wrong! (Please check out the video below)
The doorway to ALL limitless possibility, and whatever that may mean for you and the point of your ability to recognize and perceive it … IS right smack dab in the middle of your own … ‘YOU-ness.’ HOW you see the world, how you experience it (whether good outcome or not so good outcome) and how your Intuition can guide you to your HIGHEST GOOD … is determined by one single energetic reality and one decision you make.
To learn what those points of power are … please check out the video below.
Thanks in advance for checking it out. And feel free to comment. Have you ever known, or thought or felt, that maybe you had more power than the grown ups told you you had? Are you starting to feel that maybe now is the time to let it shine? Let me know. I would love to hear from you.
